As a mom, finding the perfect spot for a family day trip can sometimes feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. You want a place that offers fun for everyone—adults and kids alike. I found a spot, Icon Park in Orlando, FL. Nestled in the heart of the city, this entertainment complex promises a day full of excitement, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Here’s how our family spent an amazing day at Icon Park and why it’s a must-visit on your Orlando itinerary.
Getting There and First Impressions
Located on International Drive, Icon Park is easily accessible and offers ample parking. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the impressive sight of The Wheel, a giant observation wheel standing at 400 feet. The sheer size and the promise of breathtaking views instantly got everyone excited.
The Wheel: A View Like No Other
Our first stop was The Wheel. This attraction is perfect for families as it offers enclosed, air-conditioned capsules, ensuring a comfortable ride for all ages. As we ascended, the kids were glued to the windows, spotting familiar landmarks and marveling at the cityscape. From the top, you get a panoramic view of Orlando that is simply stunning. Don’t forget to snap some family selfies—these will be the highlight of your trip album! During the holidays they are decorated inside and jam out to some Christmas music !
Fun for the Little Ones: SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium
Next, we headed to the SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium. It’s an absolute hit with children. The colorful underwater displays and the 360-degree ocean tunnel kept our little ones entertained for hours. They were particularly thrilled by the touch pool experience where they could interact with starfish and other sea creatures. Educational and fun, this aquarium is a fantastic way to introduce kids to marine life.
Thrills and Chills: Madame Tussauds Orlando
Right next door is Madame Tussauds Orlando. While you might think wax figures are more for adults, our kids loved posing with lifelike replicas of their favorite superheroes and celebrities. It was hilarious watching them interact with these figures, making for some very entertaining photos and videos.
They have a variety of spots to eat. Coffee spots and ice cream too!
Playtime at the Pearl Express Train
After lunch, we decided to take a ride on the Pearl Express Train. This miniature train winds its way through Icon Park and is ideal for younger children. Our kids loved the ride and it gave us a chance to sit back and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the park.
